Seattle’s Loyal Heights Elementary School is one of the Best Elementary Schools in Seattle

One of the best elementary schools in Seattle is the Loyal Heights Elementary School located in the Ballard neighborhood.  Serving grades K-5, it is among the few public elementary schools that are recognized for high student academic achievement.  According to the Seattle Times article, its students passed state standardized tests in reading, math and writing by 83 to 93 percent; that is a significantly higher than the state average of 53 to 69 percent!  Testimony to school, teachers, and student’s success, Loyal Heights Elementary School was recently named a national Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education.

What is the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program?  Here is the description of the designation from the Department of Education website:

“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools that are either high performing or have improved student achievement to high levels, especially among disadvantaged students. The program is part of a larger Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about best school leadership and teaching practices.”

This is a big accomplishment as only 304 schools in the nation earned this designation!
